About us

We are the people who care about pubs. We are the few; a handful of dedicated campaigners with links to wider networks from civic societies to historical interest groups to the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA). We are volunteers and activists but above all we are campaigners and pub evangelists.

What we lack in formal training we more than make up for in passion and dedication to the cause.  We have built up our knowledge through fighting real-life pub campaigns, some very successful, others less so. We also monitor the activities of disparate pub campaign groups, up and down the country, learning from their successes and failures.

All the advice contained within these pages is offered freely and in good faith, but before making commercial decisions we would advise consulting a professional planning advisor.

Our aims are:

  • To campaign for a robust planning system that values pubs and the part they play in society
  • To be a voice for pubs and the protection of pubs
  • To support campaigners for individual pubs with knowledge and advice
  • To be the national go-to network for pub campaigning.

We hope you enjoy exploring our site, reading and hopefully digesting our advice. We trust you will find it useful in helping to save your pub. Above all, we hope you will continue to raise the profile of pubs and what an important role they play.

If you’d like to say hi, please drop us a line at info@protectpubs.org.uk or on twitter @protectpubs.  We’d love to hear from you.
